My biggest spearfishing surprise ever. This is not the sort of fish that can happen. A killshot, that just does not happen.
So I went spearfishing on the Pacific side of southern baja. The surf was acceptable when I got in. It was a bit hairy passing the surf with my kayak but manageable. All day I wondered about my way back. Nothing to boost confidence like the prospect of crashing in the surf with you kayak...
I fished over rocks in the surf line mostly. I got the white sea bass after grunting a little. It's rather impossible to stay down there in the surf. You cant easily stay motionless. I seem to have been able to not spook the most timid fish of the Pacific regardless. The killshot was historic.
Sergio Garcia took the pictures from shore. It's rare I get a picture of something like this!
ERRATUM it's February 6th not January 6 obviously.
