I picked up this Game Boy Micro, or rather, most of a Game Boy Micro for relatively cheap. I was told that it just needs new fuses and it should be good to go. Turns out, that was accurate. You can test fuses with a common mulitmeter, just put it in continuity mode and probe both sides of the fuse (should be labeled F1 or F2 on Game Boys) and if there is continuity across both sides, it's good to go, and if not, you'll need to desolder and replace it. DO NOT JUST SHORT THE FUSE OUT. Fuses are safety devices and are designed to burn out to protect the CPU or other components.
I'm not sure the specific parts that are supposed to be used but I did 500 mA 0603 fuses. The fuses I used were a bit large though so maybe the next size down would be optimal.
Now that I've got the motherboard working, I need to figure out the speaker situation since I do not have one. Next up is the buttons since I am missing a few. Then I need some screws to assemble this and a new battery cover. I already have the frame and most of the shell, including a faceplate. I ordered some parts to use but it's going to be a while before I can film and upload a part 2, but rest assured that it will be coming. Probably late August or September but don't quote me on that.
Oh, and by the way, the battery that was provided was good but it was depleted so I'm glad I did not try to use it for troubleshooting. Thanks AppleJames!
