Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Three-For-All with 3 Les Paul Licks From 1952. I've had a number of requests to feature some music from the legendary Les Paul, and also requests to feature more pioneers/legends of the guitar. I felt this lesson would be a great addition to the channel, while also hitting some of those requests at the same time - so let's dive in!
This episode revolves around a series of licks pulled from the popular 'Les Paul & Mary Ford At Home' television show, which aired from 1952-1954, and then continued until the early 1960s in syndication. The quick five-minute short program was actually something that aired between regular-length shows, and routinely featured Les and Mary playing music together, with both of them playing guitar, along with various skits filmed "at home."
The ideas shared in this lesson include a bouncy arpeggio-based "flutter" phrase, a frantic position-shifting legato idea, an interesting position-shifting intervallic move, a jazzy sweep-picked arpeggio idea, and more!
Needless to say, if you're a fan of the legendary Les Paul, a player interested in early guitar legends or early jazz guitar music, or maybe you're just curious what all the fuss is about - this lesson is totally for you!
