Covid-19 caused suffering and deaths to many people around the world. During this time, Makunduchi hospital one of the South Unguja district's largest health facilities in Zanzibar was short staffed. Thanks to USAID’s Afya Endelevu activity, 5 health workers were recruited to ease the burden. With this intervention, basic health services including maternal and child health services increased, and the number of COVID vaccinations on the island has gone up.
