Sometimes a job listing will have an extensive list of requirements, from a certain degree to soft skills to knowing different kinds of software. Do you need to have every one of their requirements checked off before you apply?
My answer as a career coach is no! Different skills can be learned. Who you are as a person and your experiences might make you a perfect match for the job, even if you have to learn a few things to get yourself started.
One client applied for a job with a different kind of requirement, listing various security clearances necessary to work in a laboratory. That’s the kind of job requirement you can’t “learn,” and therefore, is a waste of time and energy to apply to.
Do you need guidance on which jobs would best suit you in your job search? As a career coach, I have years of experience helping guide people while they transition into new careers and even new industries.
