Today we're starting off the field activation series with Episode 1: Radios. We'll start out with a quick overview of the Parks on the Air and Summits on the Air programs, and then get into the nuts and bolts of field radios. We'll cover the basics such as: Power, size, weight, and cost. We'll talk about power supply and charging. We'll also cover the basic modes, and why you may choose to operate one mode over another. We'll also take a look at various radio features, as well as radio accessories. Finally, we'll take a look at some of my radios and their specs, and discuss some other good options for field radios.
