You asked a great question about whether or not it's a good thing to mix breastfeeding with formula feeding and that's totally fine if that works best for you. We always say the motto is breast is best which means that breast milk is always going to be best for your baby and nursing actually has lots of benefits for mom too. It's recommended that you breastfeed for a minimum of six months. However, nursing is a very personal decision. A lot of times it doesn't go well either because the baby is not latching properly or it's not working well, something is going on with the mom or she is having significant pain or something. Or sometimes moms just have to go back to work and it's not realistic to pump as often as the baby needs to eat so definitely there is a place for formula. My motto is formula fed kids go to kindergarten too. So if you're choosing to use both that's totally fine. Just remember that you should always be consistent when you give your baby a bottle of formula because breastfeeding is a supply and demand type of thing so if you gave your baby a bottle of formal every afternoon around four-ish your body may not have milk at that time of the day because it's not used to producing for that time of the day. If you want to sporadically give your baby a bottle then you might kind of confuse your body and it might cause your milk supply to diminish a little bit. So just be consistent about when you're giving your baby formula and everything should be totally fine. If you have any other questions for me feel free to ask them on our Facebook page and recommend us to your friends and family too.
