Gus Van Sant talks about his debut feature "Mala Noche" on Feb. 18, 2022 at the Billy Wilder Theater, which is located inside the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. This kicked of UCLA's “Pioneers of Queer Cinema” retrospective, which celebrates "the artistic achievements, impact and storytelling unique to queer cinema." The Q&A was moderated by Lucas Hilderbrand, professor, UCI Film and Media Studies. The film was shot in 1983 and 1984, and saw a limited release in 1986. It's available now via the Criterion Collection.
