"Climate change is the most burning issue we're facing right now and every business should obviously put this firmly into their business model.
As the World Bank has pointed out, not tackling the issue would drive hundreds of millions of people back into poverty and put any business model, in my opinion, at serious risk of survival.
Unilever is involved since its beginning in many aspects of the fight against climate change, from advocacy, to rallying, uh, the industry, and driving more transformative partnerships. One of these transformative partnerships is in the whole food chain. Moving our agriculture to climate smart agriculture, attacking food waste, avoiding the issues of deforestation. That chain in itself is about 20 percent of global warming.
We also have moved quite rapidly to making our whole business carbon positive. In fact, we want to be fully carbon positive by 2030, well before the world needs to achieve its targets. We do that by transforming all of our operations to green energy and have achieved that already in Europe and the U.S. and rapidly are approaching that in the rest of the world."
