I wrote and recorded this song as a tribute to my Conde flamenco guitar. It was made by Felipe Conde of the legendary family of luthiers (with Felipe Jnr and Maria Conde- who trained as a psychologist), and I recently flew to Madrid to his workshop at Calle Arrieta 4 to meet him and collect the guitar in person (after a 6-month build lead-in time). I requested specially aged cedar for the top and had a Barbera Soloist flamenco pickup fitted. The back and sides are of aged Indian rosewood, making her a ‘negra’ (as opposed to a 'blanca' made with cypress for the back and sides).
This song and video are inspired by Leonard Cohen’s tribute to his own Conde guitar (his eulogy speech is here [ Ссылка ] and by ‘Time of the Luthiers’ documentary about the Conde dynasty and the famed artists who played them, here [ Ссылка ]
Owning a Conde flamenco guitar is a passionate love affair. And the music it can inspire is
tormentingly bitter-sweet. david.grant.author@gmail.com
