There are 4 things that you should not overlook when buying your first drum set.
These 4 things are:
Throne: This is otherwise known as the stool that you sit on when you are drumming. There is no point in spending a lot of money on your first drum set when you are not comfortable on the drumming stool that you are sitting on. Ensure that you get a throne that swivels and has an adjustable height.
Mounting Hardware: The drums and cymbals that you get are only as good as the hardware that is used to mount them. This is simply because having good drum mounting hardware will allow you to position your cymbals and toms at the perfect angle and height; therefore, allowing you to play your best!
Snare Drum And Head: Your first drum kit may come with a decent snare drum, but it will pay off to spend some extra money to buy a better snare drum and head. Your snare is literally the workhorse of your kit, so you should be sure that you have something that will produce a great sound and last a long time.
Bass Drum And Hi Hat Pedals: Once again, your beginner drum set will probably come with decent bass drum and hi hat pedals, but you will literally be stepping on them HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of times in the lifetime of your drum kit. Spend some extra money and get some high quality pedals!
