Today Mexico is the world’s largest Spanish speaking country but before the Spanish ever arrived there were many flourishing pre-Colombian civilizations here and some of their languages have still survived including Zapotec from the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca, which has many different sublanguages and as I later realized I somehow learned a particularly rare dialect, Sierra Norte, that is only spoken in a couple of small villages, but incredibly here in Los Angeles thanks to Maria who promotes the Zapotec language on her YouTube channel ([ Ссылка ]) we were actually able to find some people who speak it and they were pretty shocked when I was able to talk with them in this rare language.
