The psoas is one of the most powerful movers in the body, and since it runs down either side of the lumbar spine, when it’s asymmetrical, nothing works properly. The psoas braces and laterally bends the spine as well as flexes the hip.

The issue is when the hip flexors (both the iliacus and the psoas) pull on the hips and low back relative to the femur. Let me explain;
The hip is designed to move relative to the low back and pelvis being in a fixed position. The problems show up when the hip becomes the fixed position and the pelvis and low back move around it.

The lumbar spine gets dragged into extension and the pelvis drops into anterior carriage.

Reclaiming hip flexibility is important, and restoring the hip mobility will allow the joint to move fluidly through full range of motion.
