Jason Jones, an American producer, pro-life activist, and Republican, crossed paths with Yana Matviychuk during Ukrainian Week 2024 in Washington. On a previous visit to Ukraine, Jones was surprised to discover that it held conservative values, contrary to his expectations.

Before his trip, Jones, like many Republicans and conservative Americans, assumed that LGBT flags adorned every building in Ukraine. However, upon arrival, he found the opposite to be true – there were no LGBT flags or similar symbols in public spaces. The only instance of an LGBT flag he noticed was at the Canadian Embassy in Kyiv.

Interestingly, Jones compared Ukraine to Poland, typically perceived as a conservative state in the USA. Yet, upon landing in Poland, he observed LGBT flags prominently displayed. From this, Jones concluded that Ukrainian society holds more conservative values, a fact unknown to many in America.

During an interview with Yana Matviychuk, Jones offered three pieces of advice for Ukraine to garner more support from Republicans and conservative Americans.
