Have you spent your entire life wondering what U2 would sound like if Bono were an operatic bass? Well, the moment of clarity has finally arrived. As the brain child of George Washburne (producer, guitarist, instrumentalist extraordinaire), this cover is a fully redone arrangement of the original hit song with new instrumentation and freshly recorded tracks. The big kicker is that the rocking tenor vocals from Bono have been replaced by the operatic bass vocals of Peter Barber. Now, even though this project was a massive undertaking, and something we took very seriously, we also had a lot of fun with it -- we hope this is clearly shown in our miming of the drum track by using wrenches as drum sticks (and air as the drum set), and George playing piano while sporting an oh-so fashionable bear hat, enjoying various drinks, signing contracts, and even playing rock, paper, scissors. The pièce de résistance of this cover is the exceptional mixing and mastering done by Teddy Stevens, a Louisville native who was born and raised in a recording studio.
