Opira Bosco Okot, a South Sudanese refugee and university student in Uganda has felt the impacts of the climate crisis first-hand both in Uganda, and South Sudan. Opira says harvests have dwindled due to erratic weather patterns at the Palabek Refugee Settlement, where residents grow crops for sustenance. The 26-year-old is now working with other youth to help fight desertification, by planting trees in his host country.
