Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul South Korea is the largest of the great palaces built during the Joseon Dynasty and was the home of Joseon Kings and royal families off and on for about 500 years. This included King Sojong the Great and King Gojong, the last King of the Joseon Dynasty. Its name 경복궁 means greatly blessed by heaven. It was originally built in 1395 however it was mostly destroyed in the 1500s when the Japanese invaded. It was later rebuilt in the 1860s and 70s and then partially destroyed again during the Japanese occupation from 1910 to 1945. Many of the buildings were completely restored in the 1990s. #seoul #gyeongbokgungpalace #southkorea
