In 2013, China's nationwide PM2.5 concentrations averaged 72 micrograms (μg) per cubic meter, and in Beijing, it was sometimes even worse. However, by 2022, the average PM2.5 concentrations had dropped to 29 micrograms (μg) per cubic meter. From 2013 to 2022, China's PM2.5 concentrations had dropped by 57 percent, and the number of polluted days had fallen by 92 percent. What has happened during the past decade, especially policy-wise?
