There’s something about the Alpha series and its mechanics that make me wonder what the developers were intending to craft with this game.
For example, let’s consider air blocking. It neutralizes a lot of risk with jump ins and makes anti-airs almost irrelevant. Zoning isn’t an effective tool if all you have to do is jump while blocking. It makes better sense in a game in the Vs. series where aerial combat is more prevalent, but in traditional Street Fighter games, grounded combat is preferred. I guess it helps rookie players who tend to jump often? That’s probably the best explanation, but what’s your take? I appreciate the experimental nature of the new systems even if there were better uses outside of its intended target.
