Christian Hadjiminas, Founder & CEO THEON Group, President of the Hellenic Entrepreneurs Association (EENE), participated in a discussion with the journalist Andriana Paraskevopoulou, Head of ERT News Broadcasts, entitled "The role of re-industrialization and high technology to entrepreneurship and national economy", in the framework of the 9th Delphi Economic Forum, which took place in Delphi from 10 to 13 April, under the auspices of the H.E. President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
“Investing in the re-industrialization of the country, one of the key positions of the Hellenic Entrepreneurs Association, is a matter of key importance, as the modern challenges at the global level, have made the need to gain independence in critical sectors of the economy even more urgent”. Mr Hadjiminas stressed that the Greek economy is significantly lagging behind the average of European countries in terms of the contribution of manufacturing to the country's GDP. He also noted that the re-industrialization of the country can be achieved in today's terms through the digital revolution, i.e. the production of high-tech products and the entry of digital skills in sectors such as tourism and shipping, areas where Greece traditionally has a comparative advantage.
He spoke about the need to continuously upgrade the skills of the workforce and stressed that it is extremely important to give incentives to companies to digitally train their employees, as well as to reward employers who have increased jobs and invested in digital skills by reducing non-wage costs. In particular, he referred to the EENE's proposal for a generous reduction in non-wage costs in employment, split 50-50 between businesses and employees. Such a targeted premium would be effective, as it leverages bottom-up incentives rather than the other way around, as is usually the case with European and government funds.
