(9 Jul 2012) The remains of 520 victims of the Srebrenica massacre arrived in Potocari on Monday, two days ahead of a mass burial and commemoration ceremony.
Friends and relatives of the victims carried the coffins into a hall near Srebrenica.
The 520 sets of remains, identified through DNA tests, will be buried at a memorial centre near Srebrenica on Wednesday the 17th anniversary of the massacre of 8-thousand men and boys, defined by the International Court of Justice as genocide.
The bodies have been excavated for years.
The perpetrators secretly dug up the original mass graves with bulldozers, then drove decomposing remains to other locations and buried them there.
Earlier in the day the newly identified victims left a morgue in the Bosnian town of Visoko.
One of the survivors, Mujo Music, spoke about how his 26-year-old son was killed in the massacre.
"We escaped through the forest when Srebrenica fell (to the Serbs) and once we reached Snagovo, they (Serbs) started shooting at us from Kula. Eight people were killed, including my son. His body remained in the field. I found two bones of his. I have buried many relatives already," he added.
More than 8-thousand Muslim men and boys were murdered by Serb forces in 1995 in Srebrenica, the worst massacre of civilians on European soil after World War II.
Tens of thousands of people from around Bosnia and other countries are expected to attend the mass burial on Wednesday.
