Ruby Starr is the second single from the hard hitting, bourbon smoked sophomore album "Aces & Eights", which is released on June 18th 2021.
Rob outlines the inspiration for the song: "Ruby was the backing singer for Black Oak Arkansas during the 70’s. Jim Dandy, who formed the band, loved the way she looked and sounded and she was a great asset to the band live and in the studio. She recorded some solo albums when she left, and I was fortunate to see her singing in Las Vegas during the early 80’s when I was travelling the USA. I had no idea it was her until many years later. I've always been a big fan of full on female singers and she was one - I believe she was better than Janis Joplin. This song is dedicated to her, a largely forgotten talent, who never gained the success she deserved".

RUBY WAS A ROCKER AND SHE SANG WITH THE BAND
GIGGED WITH THE OAK ALL OVER THE LAND
HER VOICE COULD RAISE THE LIVING DEAD
GAVE ALL SHE HAD YEAH NOTHING WAS SPARED
RUBY STARR WAS SMALL

RUBY STARR WAS PROUD
RUBY, RUBY SANG OUT LOUD
BORN IN OHIO IN THE NORTHERN STATES
CALLED CONNIE LITTLE BY HER FIRST BAND MATES

ON STAGE RIGHT IS WHERE RUBY BELONGED
RUBY STARR WAS SMALL
RUBY COULD BAWL
RUBY STARR WAS PROUD
RUBY, RUBY SANG OUT LOUD
TOURED WITH OAK BACK IN ‘78
RUBY WENT WEST TO NEVADA STATE
SANG HER SONGS WITH PASSION AND PRIDE
AGED FOURTY FIVE IN TOLEDO SHE DIED
RUBY STARR WAS SMALL
RUBY COULD BAWL
