Why Didn't Sauron resurrect Smaug? An interesting question we'll dive into today. Sauron was also known as the necromancer, when he ruled from Dol Guldur, but did Sauron have necromancy powers? Possibly something he learned from Morgoth. Back when Morgoth was called Melkor he gathered evil spirits Umaiar to his side, and it seems like Sauron also mastered this power, and perhaps that's why he was called the necromancer.
Many fans think that the lore in lord of the rings states that Sauron can resurrect the nazgul (ringwraiths), but as usual the truth is a bit more complex, so I dive into the real powers of Sauron in this video, and perhaps he would have been able to use evil spirits to animate the bones of Smaug in Esgaroth? - Much like we see The Witch-king sent evil spirits to the Barrow-downs and thus created the barrow-wights.
