Dr. Rhodes is introduced to his new superior, Dr. Latham, who informs him he wasn't his first choice. Later Dr. Latham explodes when Dr. Rhodes seems to speak out of turn.

Dr. Manning and Dr. Halstead treat a pregnant patient from a car accident and are forced to perform an emergency cesarean on her. Meanwhile, Dr. Choi adjusts to his new role as Chief Emergency Resident, Dr. Reese accepts a psychiatry residency offer from Dr. Charles, and Dr. Rhodes is introduced to his new superior, Dr. Latham, who informs him he wasn't his first choice. Also, Dr. Manning and new medical student Jeff Clarke connect, which infuriates Dr. Halstead.
