New MG Mulan EV 2023 in-depth Walkaround

The MG Mulan is an electric vehicle based on the SAIC Nebula platform, and its specifications are well known. The Mulan has a curb weight of 1665 kilos, with dimensions of 4287/1836/1516 mm and a wheelbase of 2705 mm. The car is equipped with a ternary (NMC) battery manufactured by Ningde E-CON Power System, which is owned by Shanghai E-CON Power System. SAIC holds 30% of the shares through Ningde Jiaocheng SAIC Industry Upgrade Equity Investment Partnership (LP).

According to the MIIT Announcement, the MG Mulan comes with a single electric motor made by UAES, which generates 150 kW (204 hp) and sits on the rear axle. Although this isn't an impressive number, it is likely that more powerful motors will be available in the future. The top-spec 64kWh battery version of the MG Mulan can travel up to 520km on the Chinese testing procedure, while lesser 44kWh or 51kWh versions offering a range from 300km will also be available.

MG is proud of the compactness of its battery, with the smallest capacity battery measuring only 110 mm thin, while the bigger ones are 137 mm and 140 mm. The Mulan's battery has a 1300-mm width and a 1690-mm length, and its compactness is mainly due to LSB technology, where cells are located horizontally, "lying" inside the pack.

The 2023 MG Mulan/4 electric vehicle has now gone on sale in the UK, with a starting price of £25,995.
