Psalm 9 - King James Version & Bible in Basic English of The Holy Bible for English Learners & ESL Students
(KJV)
{To the chief Musician upon Muthlabben, A Psalm of David.}
I will praise thee(you), O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew(show, tell) forth all thy(your) marvellous works.
I will be glad and rejoice in thee(you): I will sing praise to thy(your) name, O thou(you) most High.
When mine(my) enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish(die, defeated) at thy(your) presence.
For thou(you) hast(have) maintained my right and my cause; thou(you) satest(sat, to govern) in the throne judging right.
Thou(You) hast(have) rebuked(spoke strongly against) the heathen(nations), thou(you) hast(have) destroyed the wicked (guilty of sin), thou(you) hast(have) put out(wiped out) their name for ever and ever.
O thou(you) enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end(finished forever, never ending ruin): and thou(you) hast(have) destroyed cities; their memorial is perished(dead) with them.
But the LORD shall endure(sit as king) for ever: he hath(has) prepared his throne for judgment.
And he shall judge the world in righteousness(right), he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness(fairness, justice).
The LORD also will be a refuge(high tower, Hebrew: high place on a rocky spot) for the oppressed(those who suffer), a refuge in times of trouble.
And they that know thy(your) name will put their trust in thee(you): for thou(you), LORD, hast(have) not forsaken(left) them that seek thee(you).
Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth(dwellsrules) in Zion: declare(tell) among the people his doings.
When he maketh(makes) inquisition(search) for blood (murder), he remembereth(remembers) them: he forgetteth(forgets) not the cry of the humble.
Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou(you) that liftest(lift) me up from the gates of death:
That I may shew(show) forth all thy(your) praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy(your) salvation.
The heathen(nations) are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken.
The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth(executes): the wicked (guilty of sin) is snared(trapped) in the work of his own hands. Higgaion(Meditation, to make sad noise, groan). Selah(Pause).
The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
For the needy shall not alway(always) be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish(die) for ever.
Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail(be strong): let the heathen(nations) be judged in thy(your) sight.
Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah(Pause).
