Monsoon Magic at Jim's Jungle Retreat !
Tigers are highly elusive by nature. The camouflaging pattern of orange and black stripes helps the Tiger merge with its jungle surroundings. They are primarily crepuscular and nocturnal, though often seen during the day time as well. While Tigers make best use of their senses of sight and hearing to keep out of the way of the humans, in Corbett Tiger Reserve, where there are more than 200 Tigers, it is not uncommon to come across them on the safaris in all zones of the reserve. It is generally believed that this is true for all seasons other than the Monsoon.
Monsoon is the time when the undergrowth is thick and visibility is low. With the added element of water, the forest floor is full of shrubs and grasses. This lush undergrowth provides the Tiger with an opportunity to follow its daily routine without much interaction with the passing tourist jeeps and it is a general perception that your chances of seeing a Tiger during monsoon season are restricted. Not in Corbett Tiger Reserve!
During this monsoon, at Jim's Jungle Retreat, we are having great time with Tiger sightings in Dhela and Jhirna Zones of the reserve. Corbett is probably the only Tiger Reserve that is open during the monsoon and both the zones are at a stone's throw from Jim's Jungle Retreat.
