Cast iron pans made in Asia have flooded the American marketplace for the past few decades, and the only major manufacturer of cast iron in the USA today is Lodge Cast Iron. In your hunt for vintage cast iron, you're guaranteed to find many pans made in China or Taiwan, and they usually have a plain Made In China mark on them; though some modern pans are completely blank and don't have this mark. A series of made-in-Taiwan wooden handled saucepans is well known and can easily be found everywhere, and there are many pans from Taiwan that have the markings of an unmarked Wagner skillet. Even though there are very popular rumors of Chinese cast iron being toxic or having lead or chemicals in the iron, this is actually not true, and even if you don't like Asian made cast iron because of political or personal reasons, they're still safe to cook with.
