북, 남한에 군사당국회담 개최 제의
North Korea has offered to hold military talks with South Korea.
Pyongyang's state-run media says the regime is willing to have the talks at the end of May or early next month.
According to the notice sent by the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces,... it wants to ease tensions on the Korean peninsula and build up mutual trust on the military front.
It also said negotiations are crucial,... as preventing an outbreak of a second Korea War is directly connected to the wellbeing of the people.
The message comes a day after Pyongyang urged Seoul to promptly accept its leader's offer for talks,... which Kim Jong-un made during the recent Workers' Party congress.
Seoul rejected the offer,... saying the North must first stop its nuclear development.
