4K Relaxing Island Sounds -1hr Meditation - Orkney Sea Bird Nests in Scotland For Sleep and Calm is a great way to relax and calm yourself to sleep. We spent a few days on Orkney off the North coast of Scotland. We stayed near the Brough of Birsay in a vacation rental amidst farms. This rocky island was just around the coast from Birsay, it was a column of rock separated from the mainland by just 50 yards and sheer drop into the north sea of 40 feet. A colony of arctic terns made their nests on the island and would take off and swoop and soar together, only to land again and begin their frantic calls. Their fluffy little brown chicks wandered about near the edge but had an innate ability to stay safe. I found the sight and sound soothing to watch. It’s nice to relax on the sea shore and listen to the ambient nature sounds. Meditation is only closed eyes away. The Orkney islands hum with ancient pagan energy and serve as home to a myriad of stone age Paleolithic sites and the oldest standing stones in Scotland. The sound of the wind and the oyster catchers preening in the background relaxes me and I hope it does for you too.
