The 978 candidates have now been narrowed down to 12 cadets who have been enrolled in Maersk Supply Service Angola’s training program. They have just arrived in Cape Town, South Africa, where they will receive the first 1½ year of their training program before they start sailing at Maersk Supply Service’s vessels in Angola.
The cadets are being introduced to the 4-5 years advanced training program that is ahead of them, depending on the career that they have chosen as Deck or Engine cadets, respectively.
They have not yet started their English language course and most of the cadets are struggling with understanding their training manager. However, one of the Deck cadets with good English skills volunteers to translate for his new friends.
To learn more about the cadets’ 6 months intensive English language course, watch the next video postcard here.
In a series of short video postcards, we follow a group of Angolan cadets on their journey to become junior officers and engineers at Maersk Supply Service’s vessels in Angola. This is the 2nd video postcard in a series leading up to a full documentary film.
