Scorpions are ancient arachnids with pincers and a venomous stinger, found worldwide. They are nocturnal hunters and can glow under ultraviolet light. Scorpions are highly resilient, surviving extreme conditions and going months without food. They give birth to live young, which ride on the mother's back until independent. Despite their fearsome look, only a few of the nearly 2,000 species have venom deadly to humans.
