When you get an opportunity as a portrait photographer, why not turn it into a pile of opportunities? Jeremy Saffer is a photographer and visual artist with decades of experience shooting portraits of everyone from Johnny Depp to Metallica, and in this video he explains in detail how he makes the most of every shoot, turning a single magazine cover shoot into multiple cover shoots and portraits with three separate clients.
How is this done? First, you need to have your gear fully dialed-in and be capable of changing to new looks in seconds. This is one of the reasons Jeremy depends on continuous LED lighting, because what you see with your eyes in the studio in real-time is what your camera is going to capture. Turning a single shoot into multiple different looks means you need to make adjustments quickly, and cover a lot of ground to make every second count.
Equally important to your equipment is your ability to work with your subjects as you shoot, making them feel confident and enjoy the process. Networking with their management and other talent they are associated with can open doors and quickly multiply the amount of jobs you can tackle in a single day. Jeremy shares how he does all of these things, so be sure to listen closely as you watch!
