Have you ever had a boss publicly humiliate you in front of everyone?
I once worked for a vice chairman who treated people harshly in front of others just for sport to see what you were made of. He thought he was developing us to know the business better than anyone else but it backfired and created a performance-obsessed workplace culture that was unsustainable.
Although you may experience some of the most crucial moments of your career with this type of boss, you will find they are often the best moments for showcasing your most powerful leadership traits. More importantly, they’re excellent opportunities for you to find your voice as a leader.
In the video above, I share one of the most challenging stories of my career at Walmart when my boss took me out to the trash cans and humiliated me in front of my peers. I also share how I recovered and used my voice in the process.
Be sure to watch and share.
