Prince Andrew may be allowed to remain in his ‘Royal Lodge’ home despite rumoured efforts by King Charles to make him leave.
Royal Lodge is owned by the Crown Estate, and is located a few miles south of Windsor Castle. The prince apparently spent around £200,000 on roof repairs over the summer, part of an estimated £2M required to fully repair the building. This has supposedly earned him the right to stay while repairs are undertaken.
Prince Andrew was forced to step back from royal duties after details of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein emerged. Jeffrey Epstein, a wealthy financier, had sexually abused children, and had been a close associate of Prince Andrew. Virginia Giuffre, a women who Prince Andrew met through Epstein when she was 17 years old, went on to make sexual assault allegations against the prince.
Prince Andrew denied the allegations, and the case was settled out of court, but he was stripped of many of his titles, and forced to step back from royal duties. Ever since then there have been rumours that senior royals, including King Charles, have wanted to remove Prince Andrew from his home.
