Bosnia and Herzegovina is still dealing with the trauma of wartime violence against women. We talk to two women who are working to promote gender equality and awareness within the country's security institutions and society at large.
We illustrate the importance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and related resolutions on Women, Peace & Security in Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the Bosnian War, sexual violence was used as a weapon of war. We talk to Vanja Matic, who works for NATO HQ Sarajevo, helping to promote gender awareness within the Bosnian army and within Bosnian society at large. We also interview Mari Skåre, the NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security, who visited the country in April this year.
