Hi welcome to Deaf talks,
We all have seen yesterday the Oscar award was given. RRR movie song and The Elephant documentary won the award. But did you know how they select movies, actors and music ? If not, in this video will explain. The Oscar award was given by an organization named Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). This was established in 1927 to choose the best movies and appreciate talents. This organization consists of a team of around 9000 film professionals as members. These 9000 people are eligible to vote for the Oscars. This organization is divided into 17 specific branches with a branch for actors, directors, editors etc. The actors nominated actors, directors nominated directors, and so on. After nomination, Academy members rank them according to preference. Highest voted person selected as winners. PricewaterhouseCoopers is the accounting firm that tallies the Oscars votes and has been doing this for decades now. Once the final tally is counted only two PWC partners know the results until the envelopes are opened onstage during the Oscars ceremony.
This is the process of selecting members. If you learned new things, hit the like button and comment, I learnt. Thank you.
