Aircraft carriers are massive warships that can accommodate thousands of crew members. These sailors spend a significant amount of time onboard the carriers, but they don't even get to explore all areas on an aircraft carrier.
Only a small number of people are permitted access to the flight deck, hangar, and fantail while routine operations are being carried out since these areas are so chaotic and dangerous. The upper levels of the island are secure enough, but due to the restricted area and sensitive operations, you can't have a large number of people entering and exiting the island at once. If a sailor's job requires them to work below deck, they may not see the sun for several weeks. The flight deck is accessible outside of flight operations and then everyone can get a breath of fresh air if there is a need.
Specific regions on aircraft carriers are off-limits to certain sailors for various reasons. Within the restricted sections is a red line zone with an actual "do not cross" line painted completely around the route leading to it. Sailors need permission or a good cause to cross this line. Marines and members of the Ships MAA force, who are responsible for maintaining security, are stationed on every carrier. If a zone is violated, they will give a forceful and direct response.
On board the vessel, these restricted areas are safe workplaces with high-security doors with
