STORYLINE:
Hundreds gathered in India''s capital on Sunday to protest sexual violence against women. New Delhi is the latest city to hold an international series of protests known as "SlutWalk."
India''s protests featured none of the short skirts, fishnet stockings or lingerie typical in other cities. But the marchers'' message was no less adamant.
"The discrimination against 50 percent of the population of this world, the general atmosphere against them, be it domestic violence or in any other walk of life, I am against it. I support equality for all and this was the message of ''SlutWalk'' which we have come to give others," said protester Ravi Kaushik.
While millions of women in India now work outside their homes, the country is still largely conservative. Perhaps keeping that in mind, most marchers wore jeans and T-shirts or salwar-kameezes, the Indian tunic paired with loose trousers.
.
The protests originated in Toronto, Canada, sparked by a police officer''s remark that women could avoid being raped by not dressing like "sluts."
