Finally! After a good 3 years since our last event, TEDxYouth@AISD is back to share ideas truly worth sharing! Over the course of the past few years, it seemed as though the whole world got tougher (as if puberty wasn't the only issue). Then came the coronavirus pandemic followed by years of lockdown. These troubles that have influenced others were indeed difficult to get over, however many stood up and stormed through the debris that were thrown at them. Because they stood up, because they were able to counter these difficulties, and because of the multitude of diverse intellectuals in our community, people found success. Whether this success was in the form of achieving good grades, being a leader in the midst of the pandemic, or even the simple action of preventing the virus from spreading, everyone has an idea to share for their success. As a result of the relevancy of the pandemic, it is important to share these concepts and ideas with the AISD School community and greater Dhaka. The lockdown period has halted the connection that we have between each other, which can be brought together with a TEDxYouth event. Moreover, the skill of resilience is of utmost importance to share because of the unpredictable environment people must be ready to adapt to at any given moment. Hosted in the Anita and Samson H. Chowdhury Performing Arts Center at the American International School of Dhaka, we invite students, faculty, and award winning guest speakers to speak on how they overcame challenges. Mohammad Shayanel Hoque is a student at the American International School Dhaka who wishes to pursue medicine and a Ph.D. degree. Hoque, from St. Cloud, Minnesota but ethnically from Bangladesh, has been to AISD for 15 years yet understands the inequalities in healthcare that exists both in developed and developing nations worldwide. Following two academically published peer-reviewed research papers with Ph.D. mentors from Harvard, Brown, Yale, and Oxford University (which have been featured on the national news), Hoque is the proud founder of the Hoque Foundation – a charity organization attempting to alleviate poverty having raised $1m and given to over 500,000 Bangladeshis. Moreover, he has been highly awarded as a student, in the IB Diploma, musically talented, and in over 20 total extracurricular activities over his high school life to date. Hoque talks on no limits, resilience, motivation, creativity, and creating impact as he hopes for a brighter future for Bangladesh.
Shariyar Hoque is a middle school student at the American International School Dhaka. As the younger brother of Shayanel Hoque, he too holds a huge responsibility as he follows his brother's footsteps. However, to him it's about creating his own mark in this world in helping those who need it. As a student heavily involved with his middle school extracurriculars, student government, and academics, he chases after being a student advocate despite all else against him. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
