Did I really go home for a few days just to go back to Japan...AGAIN?! You bet your ass I did, but honestly, it wasn't something I had really planned. A day before I left Osaka after attending the Auto Messe event, I received a message from one of my contacts over at Vibrant Performance, asking me if I could obtain some media assets for them because one of their sponsored drivers was competing at an event in Japan. That driver, Will Au-Yeung, was someone that I had encountered before at previous events and had gotten to be very familiar with. He transported his vehicle over to Japan after it recently competed at the World Time Attack Challenge in Australia to race at the upcoming Attack event held at the world famous Tsukuba Circuit. It was an event that I had wanted to attend but I ended-up going to Osaka instead to support my other friends. It just seemed like the right thing to do.
I also found out that my other friends from Australia, the guys from JDMYARD, were also competing so when I got the call from Vibrant about the Attack event, I decided to hop back on a plane less than a week later to return once again to Japan. I looked at it as a "two birds with one stone" type of scenario where I could not only do my job, but also document what my friends were doing. How often do we really get a chance to be at the same place, considering some of us were from North America, some from Australia, and others coming from different parts of Japan. It's like a dream scenario.
Three different trips to Japan in less than two months sounds a little crazy, and living it is even crazier. Sit back and watch this new adventure unfold. I promise you, it will be unlike any of my previous two excursions to Japan this year...
