The Exclusive Economic Zone, or #EEZ in short, covers the first 200 nautical miles Infront of any countries coastline and gives this country exclusive rights for extracting resources like fossil fuels or fishing. While it may seem that countries with the longest coastlines have the largest EEZ, this is not actually true. Small and isolated islands radiate their EEZ into all directions, which massively inflates their exclusive economic zone. The country with the largest EEZ in the world benefits from this principle massively, since the #geography of its main land only has a minor EEZ.
