Today I wanted to share my thoughts on and the process that I use when designing bass presets from the ground up. It's important to set your input impedance at the beginning. I always go with 1M on bass. Another useful tool you might find is in splitting your signal path when you're going for an overdriven tone. Dial in the overdrive to taste on one channel and then provide a clean passthrough in parallel so that you can maintain the low end of your signal. Compression helps here as well.

Separate presets are made for basses with roundwound and flatwound strings to achieve the optimal tone.
