Another test of the 30 cal 176 gr Hornady A-Tip shot out of a short barrel 308 and a 30-06 showing different impact velocities. In another video I drive these as fast as I can out of my 300 PRC to test the high end effectiveness of these bullets and a reduced load showing they will work with impact velocities as low as 1800 fps. 1800 fps to 3000 fps on impact and these will make for an okay hunting bullet. Really similar performance to the Berger bullets I have tested. If you like Berger's you will most likely like these just as well.
30-06 had a retained weight of 74.3 on the chunk of lead that penetrated the farthest and the lead and copper jacket combined was 103.9
308 had a retained weight of 63.6 on the chunk of lead that penetrated the farthest 94.7 on the two large chunks of lead combined and with copper jacket the total was 121.7
