Vaccines will be an important way to mitigate the pandemic, but they will not likely be available to everyone in all countries for several years. COVAX, co-led by Gavi, CEPI and WHO, aims to bring together global efforts to accelerate development, production, and equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines. Civil society organizations (CSOs) will play a key role in ensuring equitable access both between countries and within countries, and thus are a critical voice in the global dialogue on how to ensure equity. Leaders in the international health field discussed how important it is for the community of CSOs to engage with activities, especially in LMICs, to advance access, including the COVAX initiative. They discussed how CSOs can meaningfully participate in making sure that everyone has access to future COVID-19 vaccines.
