Track 8 from his third solo album “Talking Back to the Night” released in 1982 copyright Island Records. It was again recorded by himself at his home studio Netherturkdonic Studios in Gloucestershire, England with his wife adding background vocals to a couple of songs. The song “Valerie” was a minor hit that reached No. 70 on the Billboard chart and No. 34 in Canada. A remixed version released five years later was more successful, reaching No. 9 in the U.S. and No. 3 in Canada. The album received average reviews and reached No. 28 on Billboard, No. 12 in Canada, No. 9 in the Netherlands & Germany, No. 7 in Norway and No. 6 in the U.K. Written by Steve Winwood & Will Jennings and produced by Steve Winwood.
