Here’s a beautiful vintage Keystone Ludwig Acrolite 5” x 14 snare dating from 1969. It’s in excellent condition with just minimal scratching and surface blemishes here and there. The chrome throughout is surprisingly good for its age. The worst signs of use are on the internal muffler which are cosmetic only and don’t affect the function. It’s currently tuned with a Remo Coated Ambassador batter head that has plenty of life left and a new Remo Hazy snare side head. The Ludwig branded snare wires are in good shape. The snare has that wonderful, dry crack that Acrolites are known for. It’s a workhorse of a snare! I lucked into this and a Supraphonic at the same time. Since I also have a Classic Maple I figured I’d keep one aluminum shell snare and put the proceeds of the other towards a brass shell to round out my collection.
