Can your router cover a large swimming pool or an extensive garden?
In this video we will mod simple cheap home router TP-LINK TL-WR841N. The router will be equipped with one directional 16 dBi and a 20 dBi omni antenna so you can receive WIFI from far away and repeat its signal for your house.
You can see my router is WR841N Ver:9.2 300Mbps with 2 non detachable 5 dBi antennas
I bought this Wireless WIFI Antenna Booster 20dBi 2.4GHz Wifi Antennas with about $5
Quite long comparing with my original 5dBi antenna, this omni one use to boost people around my router
While connecting to remote router or people far away, I use this 16dBi directional antenna
You can buy online from Aliexpress or Ebay with just few dollars
The kits including cover box if you want to use it out door
Now I will open the router
There are 2 screws under sticky stands
And we will have to fight with some latches
Now we will de-solder 2 original antennas from the board
Get the board out
And now fix it on the back of the directional antenna using 2 screws
Now solder first directional antenna to the board
For the second omni antenna, I will use Pigtail Jumper cable for RP-SMA Antenna
And fix my SMA male connection here
Now solder the pigtail cable to the board
Fix every thing in the box
And apply some hot glue for the connection
Finally, apply the omni antenna
Now all the guest in the garden can enjoy strong WiFi signal
And all the people around they are happy with my project ;)
