South Korea's government entities and corporations could be subject to a new type of cyberattack this year.
A cyber threat report released by the Korea Internet and Security Agency on Monday says there's a high possibility a cyberattack via the Internet of Things could be in the works, as it's easier to hack into the IOT system than a regular PC.
Because IOT devices are interconnected, the agency stressed that if one device is hacked, it could create a gateway for other devices to be hacked as well.
The agency says it will be on the lookout for threats during this year's presidential election, when hackers could target the National Election Commission, the press and political parties, among others.
