A Landlord Claim is when you have a monetary claim against the tenant, normally due to damage that occurred during a tenancy. Most commonly, the tenant has already moved out, and you are left with damages, extra items they left behind and a large repair bill.
Your next step is to go to the RTB website, download the Landlord Claim form and fill it out. But before you can file at the RTB, you need to have an idea of your costs. Here is where you can estimate your costs, simply for the purposes of applying for a hearing. Get the junk hauled away, get your quotes and begin the work on the property. As long as you have the complete and total cost before your hearing, you can submit the hearing paperwork with your estimated “ballpark” costs on the RTB form.
